ADULT EDUCATION / STUDIES
December Sundays –
Sundays’ X-Stream Adults’ Education - will resume September 14that 9:30
between the worship services. LuAnn Johnson will lead the group through a five-
session study called “Faith Lesson on the Prophets and Kings of Israel.”
(Books are available in your favorite market place.) No class on December 28th.
Weekly Monday Night Bible Study –
At Alan & Loretta Leicht’s home (14424 W Ventura St.) At 6:30 a pot-luck dinner
is shared and at 7:00 the Bible study begins. Pastor Kevin will lead the 10-
session video series based on the “Four Acts of Prayer” by Walter Wangerin.
We frequently pray the Lord’s Prayer in both our corporate and private times of
prayer. Rarely do we give much thought to the words that we are praying. This
short study will give participants the opportunity to meditate and discuss the
words of the Lord’s Prayer as they view it from a new perspective—the Middle
East, the culture in which the prayer was originally prayed. Watch for sign up at
the Information Table or call the Outreach Center 623-215-8139.

kids K-6th grade at the Outreach Center. Snacks, Bible lesson, games and
crafts are offered. There is NO COST! Invite your friends! Permission slips
must be filled out to register at the Outreach Center. (There will be no Club on
December 25th and January 1st.)

casual time of building your faith relationships.

Dec 7 – Food Pantry Sunday: Remember those who have very little in the
pantry for Christmas!
Dec – Shoebox Ministry: There are 15,000 homeless men, women and
children in the Valley. So through December let us bundle up our down-and-out
by collecting gloves/scarves/caps. Drop off your Christmas finds in our Sunday
church bin, so we can wrap others in warmth!
Dec 6 – Habitat for Humanity: Along with Thrivent, an 8-week build on two
sites is in progress. Desert Streams is scheduled for December 6. Please sign
up for this date at the Information Table, and you can always show up other
days to assist. Work hours are: Tues-Fri 7:30-11:30, Sat 7:30-1:30.

Let's keep the true spirit of Christmas alive in our lives! December 24th at 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. Christmas Eve Services Both services will feature our favorite hymns and the telling of the Christmas Story in a traditional, Old World fashion and Holy Communion will be celebrated. | MORNING/EVENING WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDIES: “Stepping Up” by Beth Moore is a 7-week video/discussion series of the Psalms of Ascent. The Bible Study is offered at two times at the Outreach Center. The evening group meets at 7:00 p.m. the 1st and 3rd Thursday evenings of the month, the day group will begin meeting on November 26th at 10:00 a.m. and continue the 2nd and 4th Wednesday mornings of the month. | X-STREAMS KIDS "THE LITTLE SHEPHERDS GIFT" The X-Stream Kids will present the Christmas Play, “The Little Shepherd’s Gift” at both worship services on Sunday, December 21st. The play was written by a member of Desert Streams, Jim Harmonson. This play that celebrates the gift of Christmas and it’s touch upon our lives is a wonderful way to keep the spirit of Christmas alive in our lives and our families. |
| CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES Desert Streams will offer two worship services on Christmas Eve—4:00PM and 6:00PM. The services will feature our favorite hymns and the telling of the Christmas Story in a traditional, Old World fashion. Holy Communion will be celebrated at both services. |
| NEW MONDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY We will study C.S. Lewis' classic, "The Screwtape Letters," which provides lessons in the importance of taking a deliberate role in living out Christian faith as seen from the demon/devil's viewpoint.
