Born in the beautiful city of Chicago, IL., I was always moved to
help others and was always a person of faith, even as a small
child. I grew up in rural communities of the Muskegon, Michigan
area and returned to Chicago for my high school and early college
years. My background is in business administration and
operations management, where I spent 25 years, many of them in
senior leadership. In 1992 I started Houston Partners
International, a performance and human development
organization, which has been the hallmark of my working years.
I have always considered myself the luckiest man in the world.
Why? Because I have been madly in love, twice. First to my
belated wife of twenty and to Julie for the past 17 years, who
makes everyday worth living.
Desert Streams is a wonderful church that accomplishes so
much already and is poised to do even more in serving the
community through being faithful to our Church Mission:
"Inviting everyone to a new life in Christ,
a deeper relationship with Christ,
and spirit filled service for Christ.”

Blossom and I were newcomers to Arizona when we joined Desert
Streams Church in September 2009.
After living in Indiana for the last 12 years, we wanted to be closer
to family, including my parents who live in Sun City Grand. It was
a bonus that both of our grown children, Erikka and Brian,
followed us to Arizona. We have recently served as missionaries
on trips in 2008 and 2009 to the Dominican Republic and we also
sponsor several children in a variety of countries through New
Missions and Compassion International.
Blossom and I met while both of us were working at Disneyland,
and then married in 1980. Since 1982, we have had separate
careers, and after all those years, we are now working together
again in our Management Consulting Business, Education
Connection Solutions, LLC, where we specialize in helping clients
to learn and implement Lean 6 Sigma Process Improvement
Programs.
Darlene has been a part of Desert Streams since Pastor
Kevin knocked on her door many years ago. She has been
actively involved in the church and most recently taken on the
role of Congregational Life Leader. We are fortunate to
have such a spirited and outgoing person that has the best
interest of the congregation at heart. Through Pastor Care,
planning special family events for the entire congregation,
and Dinner for 8 gatherings, Darlene stands ready to serve
and make all those that come to Desert Streams feel
welcome and comfortable.
Rhoda was born in a small farm house in Central Texas, the
youngest of ten siblings. She became a registered nurse
and earned a Baccalaureate Degree from Incarnate Word
and a Masters Degree from the University of Texas. She
served in the United States Air Force and the Department of
Medicine & Surgery of the Veterans Administration, holding
teaching and administrative positions in Texas, Arizona,
California and Colorado. Following retirement, she was co-
owner and operator of a bed & breakfast inn and a gourmet
restaurant in Southwestern Colorado.
She moved to Arizona eleven years ago and has been
involved in volunteer work at the Westside Food Bank,
Habitat for Humanity, Interfaith Community of Care and
Eve’s Place.
Jim and I moved to Arizona from northeastern Nevada in
1984 and I love it. My parents and some family lived here
and since we needed a milder climate we chose to try this
one. I was an assistant director at the Department of
Education and later taught at Western Sky Middle School in
Litchfield. We moved to Surprise in 1997. It had taken us a
while to find a new church home with the warmth and grace
of our one in Nevada. We found it with Desert Streams this
last year. The Desert Streams' community has been warm
and welcoming both individually and spirituality.
My husband Bryan and I made our home in Surprise March 2003.
We, along with our son Alexander became a part of Desert
Streams in 2006 and enjoy the fellowship that this congregation
brings. I currently work for the Tolleson Elementary School District
as their Specialist of Human Resources and hold an MBA from
Ottawa University. For many years I have been heavily involved in
dramatic productions serving as dramatic director, stage director,
assistant production director under the Worship & Lively Arts
Minister. Having served on numerous worship teams for many
years, even on teams during mission trips to Panama & Cuba has
instilled a sense of peace and understanding. I firmly believe
music through worship is the soul of the church and I welcome the
opportunity to serve as your Worship Council Member.

I was born in New York, then moved with my family to
Connecticut in 1984. In 1990 I retired from the NY
Sanitation Dept, started a new career and then in 2006,
retired from the Stratford Board of Education as Head
Custodian of the local high school. My wife, Lynn, and I
moved to Surprise in July 2006. While Lynn was setting up
house before our move, Pastor Kevin rang our doorbell and
the rest is history. We enjoy being an active part in our
church family.
We are blessed with six children, 10 grandchildren (I’m counting the one to be born in January 2010!), and
God willing, a few more before it’s over.I’m also a blessed man, because I know my Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ. He has been my anchor through all of life’s ups and downs, and he will carry me through to the
great reward that awaits us when we are with him in heaven.
After almost 20 years of Church leadership, I find myself President at Desert Streams Lutheran Church.
From the first visit to Desert Streams, Julie and I knew we had found a new church home. From the warmth
of Pastor Kevin and wife Faye, to all of the wonderful, service filled Christians who gather in our modest
surroundings, we know that Desert Streams, a mission church, is destined to touch the lives of many people
from all walks of life and from various faiths. We are humbled to be a part of this mission and pledge to be
fully committed to the walk our Lord has asked us to make.
Blessings to you all.
